Individual psychotherapy with adults
What does this look like?
I provide one-on-one counseling in French and English with any person who is 18 years old or older. Our sessions are 60 minutes each. Some people have a sense that they would like to come in once a week or once every two weeks, for example. Other people aren’t sure. Either way it’s ok. More often than not, the frequency of appointments will fluctuate with your changing needs. The first appointment is dedicated to answering a few important demographic questions, reviewing a therapy consent form together as well as allowing you to elaborate in your own words on what has brought you into therapy. From there, I will review some important aspects of your life situation and we can decide together what treatment would look like in your situation.
My vision of psychotherapy and counseling
Above all else, therapy centers around a relationship of trust and non-judgment. Each individual is unique and valuable in their own right, and I find it meaningful to tailor the work we do together to your specific needs. I like to think of myself as a co-creator, working with you in getting to the heart of what is bringing you in to therapy. I have a strong core belief that everyone is doing the best they can with whatever resources they have in that moment. Therapy isn’t about giving you advice or counsel; it’s about learning to understand yourself better and connecting with that inner knowing, first in session, and then outside of session. In essence it’s about finding your own “north star”, hence where the name of my practice comes from.
Coverage
Coverage
Social workers in private practice provide counselling services that are not covered by OHIP, but the cost may be fully or partially covered by your extended health benefits (e.g. SunLife, Canada Life). The coverage provided by each employer is different so please make sure that you have verified the type of coverage you have and all the details surrounding it. It can be helpful to find out how much coverage you have every year, whether or not you need a physician referral to access psychotherapy and what percentage of the fee is covered for each visit.
Sliding scale (limited)
Sliding scale (limited)
I do have a few sliding scale spots for anyone who is not able to pay my full fee. These spots are limited and their availability fluctuates.
